Caro mio ben (My dear beloved) was long attributed to Giuseppe Giordani, Tommaso’s brother. This aria was written for a London concert, and is not from an opera. Interest in Italian opera had flourished there throughout the 1700’s. A possible publication date for this aria is 1782. Published in London by Preston publishing.
Tommaso Giordani was trained in Naples, and moved to London with his family around 1752. In 1764 Giordani moved to Dublin, Ireland. He returned to London in 1781 for a short two years, then returned to Dublin for the rest of his life. He published many vocal and instrumental works.
